1G DSM clutch pedal assemblies have a tendency to wear over time especially with heavier then stock clutches installed. This joint connects the clutch pedal shaft to the U shaped piece that interfaces with the clutch master cylinder push rod. Still following? Me neither... Anyway, this piece can wear out at its connection (see where the finger is pointing in the picture above) causing slop in the pedal, which can lead to poor engagement. Replacing this little piece is by no means easy. You basically have to take the clutch pedal assembly out, and there is very little room to work, not to mention you're upside down. For those not bound by tasks too daunting order a replacement today!
