| | Driveshaft Carrier Bearings
So your AWD DSM is getting up there in age. You may notice that when you get on it from a stop the rear end thumps. This is often from the rear carrier bearing being blown out allowing the driveshaft to thump around. Not a good thing if you want the car to last another 10 years! The quick and dirty way to fix this is to replace the rear bearing with an OEM new one. If you have the chance, having the whole driveshaft rebuilt (costs about $250) is a good idea (but you'll still need new carrier bearings). Both front and rear bearings are the same on the 1G. They're different parts on the 2G car.
