It isn't uncommon for the weather stripping to crack or tear from the constant opening and closing of the doors and trying to wedge objects that just don't fit into the car. There are 2 seals on the door. The frame seal goes around door opening on the chassis and stops at the bottom by the lower door frame panels. The door seal goes around the door itself.
